The following information pertains to the shots used:

Canon EOS D60
1/15th sec.
F/4.5

Now having given that information it is important to note that the image is made up of three images. I changed the focus on each of the three images and then combined the different sections of each photograph in PS to include the sections that were most sharply focused. I really wasn't as successful as I had hoped in this experiment.

Intense. I'm not sure you actually want it to be more sharply focused. The red has sort of turned into a swath of oil paint color.
