Barb and I went with the kids (dogs) on a hunt for the beaver family and a flock of known wild turkeys near here last weekend. Again we didn't find the beaver family or the wild turkeys. However, I snapped this fellow and tomorrows bluebird photo. It will be on with the beaver hunt next weekend! :0)

An interesting nature shot. Thanks, Craiger.

Very neat shot. It does seem to be eyeing some meal very intently.

Very sharp shot, Craig.

Your trademark processing on a beautiful capture! I like it.

I really like how the bird stands out against the dark background.

I love watching these birds hunt. And it was nice of you to not "show off" with any more of your spectacular moon/planet shots today (so the rest of us poor mortal photographers can work on re-developing a tiny bit of self-esteem)... ;o)

@Viewfinder: It is really not all that tough to photograph the moon and stars. Just use a tripod. The hardest part is either staying up late enough or getting up early enough to take the shots! :0) Here is a challenge for you VF! There is a lunar eclipse coming up Feb. 20. :0)
nice capture .... I love the grass around the bird

Nice capture of an egret at work! Maybe there was still too much light for the beavers...

@Wolfgang Prigge: I would be satisfied with even finding their dam. If I could find their dam, I could begin honing the time to capture them best. I'll just have to be patient! Thanks for your comment!
Very interesting composition... I wonder if it would have made any diff had you cropped with the bird to the extreme right of the picture... Love ur caption!

I love the light on the white bird, a great composition too.

Really superb Craig.

Me gusta la forma en la que destaca el ave en ese entorno tan oscuro. Un saludo.

cute. good luck getting the beaver and wild turkeys!

He looks, just like an old and wise gentleman. Very nice!

P.S.: There doesn't have to be a dam if the water was deep enough to begin with, in that case you would only have to find their lodge. Did you see any stumps of trees they took down?
7 Feb 2008 4:37pm
@Wolfgang Prigge: Ah! That is a good idea! I wasn't looking for the stumps of trees. Thanks!
Very nice capture. I like the bird's pose
7 Feb 2008 4:46pm
p.p.s: This is how a tree taken down by beavers looks like.

VERY nicely done, Craig! I really wish we had egrets here. They are so graceful and beautiful.

I admire your work, Craiger. This is a very beautiful shot - as always! :)

The bird is so bright in contrast to his background, that has to make his stalking rather difficult . Fantastic capture !
10 Feb 2008 9:32am
@Fred: He is only bright in contrast to his background from our point of view. But, from a bugs point of view he must look like a white cloud against the sky. :0)
