Great shot - I have some of the same birds around the corner from me but every time I stop to take a picture they get spooked and fly away. How did you keep them from flying away?
I especially like the composition and the ripples in the water - well done.

@Chris: In 35 mm terms, I used a 790mm lens. I wasn't really all that close. This guy was about 25 yards out.
