Stephen Phillips from San Francisco, United StatesOh, my - alien indeed. a fantastic image, Craig. 12 Jul 2008 6:18am Peter Miller from Lichfield, United KingdomLike something out of a a sci fi movie, colour rendition and pose are both superb, brilliant. Would I be wrong in saying it has been photoshopped because there is a very slight blur around the mantis where I think it has been cut out 12 Jul 2008 7:50am @Peter Miller: Yes, you would be wrong. There was no cutting and pasting done to the image. Of course I did the conversion in Photoshop and a little burning and dodging. Thanks for your inquiry and all your comments Peter!!! Lorraine from Gatineau, CanadaWhat a great insect photo, I love it and I don't see any green ;) 12 Jul 2008 8:14am Kheoh Yee Wei from Kuala Lumpur, MalaysiaThis is my first time seeing fighting mantis photo in BW.Excellent 12 Jul 2008 10:32am Betty from New Jersey, United StatesA wonderful idea to present this mantis in B&W, Craig. The result is fantastic! Well done! 12 Jul 2008 11:30am Eric Fry from Houston, TX, United StatesThis is cool! The b&w combined with the background really makes this shot very interesting. 12 Jul 2008 12:32pm Tracey from White Hall, United StatesVery out-of-this world. The black and white and the lighting lend a hand in creating the alien feel for this one. It seems as thought the mantis body has been outlined with a pencil, especially around his front claw. Was that due to the lighting, or did you do something special in PP to really define it? Wonderful and unique photo you have here! 12 Jul 2008 4:32pm @Tracey: I know what you mean. I did some dodging in that area because I wanted to highlight the claw. Thanks for all your comments Tracy! standley from brou-sur-chantereine, FranceFabulous image Craig. Quite impressive in B&W.
