DaveB from Exeter, United KingdomInteresting colours, looks like the result of a forest-fire 27 Oct 2008 9:29am @DaveB: There is no recent evidence of fire here. What you may be noticing is the black soil/rock which is the result of relatively recent volcanic activity. Hat Creek is only 30 miles from Mt. Lassen. Evelyne Dubos from Le Mans, FranceLike the contrast between black volcanic rocks and different tones of green. 27 Oct 2008 10:13am Nina from Hamburg, GermanyWonderful image... the color contrast between foreground and background is beautiful! 27 Oct 2008 11:30am Wolfgang - vu@granby from Granby, Québec, CanadaLooks like I have to put yet another spot on my "to do" list... 27 Oct 2008 12:53pm Viewfinder from Bradenton, United StatesWow, I can't get past that sage growing up the rise. I bet it smells great to be there in person. On a roat trip to Wyoming, my son and I found vast expanses where this sage was everywhere. The smell and the look of it has stayed with me ever since. 27 Oct 2008 1:26pm MontereyJohn from Salinas, California, United StatesOooooo, looks like somebody had a fire. We down here on The Central Coast are a bit jumpy about such things after this past summer :) Nice light and colors, well captured. 27 Oct 2008 1:47pm MaryB from Staffordshire, United KingdomI thought those plants in the forground looked like lavender, but I just read VF's comment so now I know :) 27 Oct 2008 3:58pm bluechameleon from Vancouver, CanadaCraig, this is truly fantastic!
