The (so called) Troublemaker IIPosted by Craig (Vacaville, California, United States) on 24 November 2008 in Animal & Insect and Portfolio. There are many marks on his hide that look like scars and puncture marks on his hind quarters. However, I'm no expert and don't know for sure what they are or how they got there. However, I am suspicious.

Gary from Cochise County, United StatesLooks like this guy has been pumping some Iron. That could be trouble. Nice Image. 24 Nov 2008 6:25am Betty from New Jersey, United StatesWonderful markings. Well done. Maybe he is a trouble maker... and those are scars of battle with other giraffes? I hope so. 24 Nov 2008 10:35am @Betty: Now that is an optimistic view I hadn't considered. Hope you are right! Michael Skorulski from Cigel, SlovakiaWonderful sense of the texture of hide here. Nice image! 24 Nov 2008 11:44am willow from Chelsea, United StatesI love this!!!! The detail is incredible and the lighting really enhances the rich colors of his skin. I'm gonna go with scrapes against trees as a cause of his scars - surely he wouldn't get into giraffe fights?!!! 24 Nov 2008 11:46am @willow: Don't be so sure about the giraffe fights. I saw him get into a brew ha ha while we were there. However, if the scars were from other giraffes, I would expect the scars to be all over his body and not just on his sides and hind. His neck has no scars. Likewise, if the scars are from trees, I would expect them on his neck as well. But, like I say, I'm no expert. You could be quite right. Thanks for all your comments Willow! zOOm from Paris, FranceI love this ! Animal skins are so interesting... great close-up ! Good eyes. Maybe years of being bullied made him finally snap. 24 Nov 2008 4:23pm StépHane°° from Lyon, FranceHi Craig' ! Great shot with interesting details ! Great lighting too ! Like I say, that is my hope. 24 Nov 2008 11:06pm Richard_Irwin from Belper, United KingdomI love this shot, really makes you look at the form of these strange beasts, as we tend to look at their necks and ignore the interesting shape of their body. 25 Nov 2008 12:53am Jen from Alpharetta, United StatesThis is absolutely great...the shapes and lines and the detail are fantastic 25 Nov 2008 2:08am amy from Nanaimo, BC, CanadaLove your whole series... she says as she tries to do some catching up... I never realized they had such a baggy hide. Great detail, Craig!! And sometimes the afternoon light can really add dimension to a shot with so much texture. 25 Nov 2008 4:49am |
