Viewfinder from Bradenton, FL, United StatesIs this a salt lake? Interesting rock formations. 3 Apr 2009 10:35am @Viewfinder: I don't believe Mono Lake was originally a salt lake. However, it's salinity doubled shortly after greedy human politicians started diverting water from its tributaries to quench the thirst of the L.A. basin. In the mid 70's Mono Lake was about to become an ecological disaster. Since that time we have begun to turn that around, thanks to an ecologist named David Gains. Although I don't believe the lake is yet back to its original levels.
