Scott Schilling from San Martin, United StatesThe size of the country and the distances that you can see once you are in the desert is always amazing to me - reminds me of traveling from CA to AZ during the summer months! Amazing colors in the soil and rock on the far side! 26 Apr 2009 5:22am Mariana from waterloo, CanadaAMAZING ! If do not see that little piece of rock I would think of looking at the beautiful clouds from the plane ! These light tones are gorgeous ! 26 Apr 2009 5:34am Marie-Hélène Ammor from Casablanca/Paris, Moroccowow ...I like the little triangle in the left to sshow the atmosphere in the mist !! Beautiful ! 26 Apr 2009 8:23am Hidalgo from Herunen, FinlandThe blue tone is beautiful. Your photo has calming effect. 26 Apr 2009 8:35am Veronelle from Lens, Francesnow ? it is not snow on the desert ! i go to wach my bicycles ! great capture ! 26 Apr 2009 9:29am @Veronelle: There are lots of white salt deposits on the desert floor as well as white limestone (amongst other colors). However, Death Valley has snow on its mountain peaks (see tomorrows post). Portions of Death Valley's valley floor are below minus 250 feet. But it has mountain peaks over 11,000 feet! Thanks for your comments Veronelle! P J W Miller from Chase Terrace, United KingdomGreat muted image where one has to search for the detail but worthwhile once found, my only qualm is the land to the left foreground which is a distraction 26 Apr 2009 10:42am Scene by Sharon Photography from Kingston, Ontario, Canadawonderful capture - this series has allowed me to travel to Death Valley without leaving Canada - thanks so much for sharing your travels with us :) 26 Apr 2009 11:11am @Lorraine: Sony 70-400 G series @john4jack: haze bluechameleon from Vancouver, CanadaCool framing...all that haze against the rock and detail, making it look like part of the clouds with just a touch of the more obvious rock in the corner. Very clever. 26 Apr 2009 1:54pm Veronica from Bucharest, Romaniai dont know if this is haze, its a little too white for me, but the scenery in the back is amazing 26 Apr 2009 2:24pm Yvon from Orleans, Francevery nice shot 26 Apr 2009 2:48pm JanW from Rotterdam, NetherlandsAmazing pictures of Death Valley and so are most of the photos in your portfolio. 26 Apr 2009 4:07pm MontereyJohn from Salinas, California, United StatesI think you defined "desolate" with this one. 26 Apr 2009 4:42pm "Marie" :-) from perth, AustraliaBreathtaking, this just makes me feel so tiny, love the scene and the small piece of rock you have left in the photo makes me realise how awesome it must have been to stand here...... 26 Apr 2009 5:00pm DaveB from Exeter, United KingdomALthough I know what you were going for, the lack of detail in this doesnt do much fore me! More of the outcrop in the foreground might have helped? 26 Apr 2009 8:41pm observing from North West, United KingdomThat's a big shot Craig, it's like I'm looking from space. 26 Apr 2009 11:52pm vu@granby - Wolfgang from Granby, Québec, CanadaVery interesting, like a dream world! 27 Apr 2009 12:27am willow from Chelsea, United StatesDreamy - feels like we are looking through a filter. 27 Apr 2009 1:56am amy from Nanaimo, BC, CanadaDeath Valley indeed... the haze really amplifies the desolation. 27 Apr 2009 4:15am |
