The Wild Bird Sanctuary

Posted by Craig (Vacaville, California, United States) on 2 July 2009 in Animal & Insect and Portfolio.

I believe this is a snowy egret fledgling. I was out driving around in the country with the "kids" (dogs) looking for a place to run them. I pulled over by a grove of eucalyptus trees. It seemed a great place to run them as it had an open field next to it. So I let them out and headed to the field. I noticed a snowy egret in the field so I took my camera along. But as I got closer to the grove of trees I realized I was hearing the cries of thousands of birds in the trees. It was a nesting grounds for snowy egrets! I'll post a few shots but plan on returning soon as the fledglings are close to being able to fly away!
